Huis Oakdale provides housing opportunities to the community based on their social economic background. Applicants must be over 60 years with a sub-economic income, able to function independently with or without a psychiatric diagnosis. (Please note, psychiatric diagnosed applicants must be under the care of a registered psychiatrist and mentally stable before the application is approved.)

Type of Housing:

21 fully furnished single rooms (on ground level): Bed with two drawers, mattress, and mattress cover; bedside table lamp above bed; built-in table with loose chair; built-in cupboards with wash basin; refuse and laundry basket; and curtains.

Residents share communal amenities:

An open plan: A fully equipped kitchen, dining room, lounge, and an indoor braai; shower and toilet; and laundry.

Rent: R 4,800 per month including 1 meal per day, soup and bread, plus mandatory membership of Eureka Retirement Village Senior Centre: R 5 membership fee per month, as well as electricity and a weekly cleaning service.

Rentals / rates of all services are increased annually from 1 April.

DSTV / TV: Connection available at cost

A bar fridge: Provided on request for the cost of the resident.

Laundry:

Two washing machines and one tumble drier, ironing board and iron, and a washing basin available for communal use

(Mandatory use / purchase of coupons for machines and washing powder)

Residents are required to provide their own:

Bedding

Crockery and cutlery

Cleaning products

Breakfast and dinner

TV / Decoder

Internet connection

Carpet & Mirror (following prescriptive measurements)

Portraits / Paintings (only for three items in designated places)
